How I teach it

If a student is new to the game, we begin by learning the rules of chess. After that, it’s my job to help them improve as efficiently as possible. The best tools for chess improvement are playing games, studying great players of the past, and solving chess exercises. I allow students to play me online whenever they want; I play on my phone, so I can almost always respond to games. I also believe that community is important to chess, so I will start and run an online chess club. The ultimate goal is to create and run an in-person club, The Wood-Ridge Chess Club.
